Installation

FOCUS requires Python 3.12 or newer. Import it as focus.

Install FOCUS

git clone https://github.com/zipJiang/FOCUS.git
cd FOCUS
python3.12 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate
python -m pip install -e .

If you already have a checkout, start by creating the virtual environment. The editable install (-e) lets Python use your changes to the checkout without reinstalling the package.

Continue with Quick start: MATH to build a rollout harness, install its math verifier, and check it with scripted completions before connecting a model.

The standard installation includes the model clients and tokenizer support used by the tutorials: vLLM, SGLang, OpenAI-compatible APIs, and Hugging Face chat templates. Supply your model endpoint or API credentials when you connect a policy.
